Bathroom Renovations
in
Melbourne

Bathroom renovations in Melbourne typically range from $35,000 to $55,000 and above, depending on scope, layout changes, and finish level. Every bathroom is different, and so is every homeowner. That is why every bathroom renovation at LiLAC starts with a site visit, not a phone quote.

We offer two clearly defined renovation tiers, Essential and Signature, both delivered under a fixed-price contract so you know exactly what you are investing before a single tile comes off the wall. We specialise in complete bathroom renovations, ensuite renovations, master bathroom transformations, and heritage bathroom upgrades across Melbourne's Inner East and Bayside suburbs, including Brighton, Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell, and Malvern.

Every project is managed personally by licensed builder Zac Porter (BPC DB-U 100-151) and built to AS 3740 waterproofing standards. One team. One contract. One point of accountability from demolition to handover.

OUR
Bathroom Renovations
PROCESS
Pre-Construction
Every bathroom renovation at LiLAC begins with a site visit, not a phone quote. From there, scope, budget, and compliance documentation are confirmed, contract signed, and every fixture, tile, and finish selection locked in before construction begins. Nothing is left open once work starts.
Construction
Full demolition and strip back to raw framework. Waterproofing installed and flood tested to AS 3740 compliance before any wall closes. Electrical rough-in and plumbing rough-in completed in sequence. Tiling, joinery, cabinetry, and final fixture fit-off all coordinated under one licensed builder. Typical construction phase runs four to eight weeks depending on scope.
Handover
Waterproofing, electrical, and plumbing compliance certificates issued before handover. Final walkthrough completed together with your project manager. All warranties, certificates, and documentation handed to you directly. Your bathroom renovation is complete.

WHY CHOOSE LILAC for your
Bathroom Renovations
in
Melbourne

We know this process inside out: From ensuite renovations to full master bathroom transformations and heritage bathroom upgrades, bathroom renovations are at the core of what we do at LiLAC. We have worked across Melbourne's most established suburbs and we know exactly what a high-quality bathroom renovation looks like, and what it takes to get there.

Every trade coordinated under one licensed builder: A bathroom renovation is only ever as good as the coordination behind it. Waterproofing, tiling, plumbing, electrical, and joinery all need to happen in the right order, by the right people. Licensed builder Zac Porter (BPC DB-U 100-151) oversees every trade personally, from demolition to final fit-off, so nothing falls through the gaps.

Your investment is protected: Every bathroom renovation at LiLAC is delivered under a fixed-price contract, not an estimate. The number we agree on before construction begins is the number you pay. No surprises. No variations you did not agree to. Complete transparency before a single tile comes off the wall.

Local Melbourne knowledge: We renovate bathrooms across Melbourne's Bayside and Inner East suburbs. From Victorian and Edwardian bathrooms in Hawthorn and Kew to mid-century ensuites in Brighton and Malvern, we understand how these homes were originally built and what it takes to renovate them correctly, including heritage overlays, council requirements, and period-appropriate detailing.

FAQs
How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Melbourne?
A complete bathroom renovation in Melbourne typically costs between $35,000 and $55,000 and above, depending on scope, layout changes, plumbing relocation, and finish level. At LiLAC, we offer two clearly defined tiers, Essential from $35,000 and Signature from $55,000, both under a fixed-price contract. Every project starts with a site visit because no two bathrooms are the same and no accurate price can be given without seeing the space first.
How long does a bathroom renovation take in Melbourne?
A bathroom renovation feels like it should take a fortnight. It almost never does. The trades work fast once they are on site, but waterproofing has to cure, tiles have to set, and stone tops have to be templated and fabricated. End to end, plan for five to eight weeks from the day you sign. That breaks into two to three weeks of pre-construction covering selections, contracts, and ordering, followed by three to five weeks on site. The on-site phase is what most people picture when they ask the question, but the planning weeks are where projects are won or lost.
What does a complete bathroom renovation include?
A complete bathroom renovation at LiLAC covers every stage from first site visit to final handover. Pre-construction includes the itemised fixed-price contract, Domestic Building Insurance, permits where required, selections, and all trade scheduling. Construction covers full demolition and strip back, plastering and wall preparation, waterproofing with flood test and compliance certificate, floor-to-ceiling tiling, vanity with stone benchtop, plumbing fixtures, electrical including downlights, exhaust fan and heated towel rail. Signature builds also include structural updates, slab cutting, walk-in shower configurations, custom-made vanities, freestanding bath, underfloor heating, and a premium plumbing and electrical package. Waterproofing, plumbing, and electrical compliance certificates are all issued at handover.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Melbourne?
It depends on the scope of work. Cosmetic updates that do not affect plumbing, electrical, or structure typically do not require a building permit. Any work involving plumbing changes, waterproofing, electrical alterations, or structural modifications requires compliance certificates and in some cases a building permit. We include waterproofing certification, plumbing compliance, and electrical certificates.
Can I stay in my home during a bathroom renovation in Melbourne?
In most cases, yes. LiLAC plans every construction stage to minimise disruption to your household. If your home has only one bathroom, we discuss staging and timing options with you before construction begins so you are never left without a functional bathroom for extended periods.
How do I know if my bathroom renovation builder is licensed in Victoria?
In Victoria, any builder undertaking bathroom renovation work must hold a current Building Practitioner Certificate (BPC). LiLAC's builder Zac Porter holds BPC DB-U 100-151, which you can verify independently. We carry full public liability insurance and domestic building insurance on every project. Never engage a bathroom renovation builder in Melbourne who cannot provide their BPC licence number upfront.
At Lilac Constructions, we work with homeowners across Melbourne's most established suburbs, the places where people have invested in their community and want a home that reflects that.

Our projects are concentrated in Melbourne's eastern and bayside suburbs, where we know the streets, the councils, and the character of each neighbourhood intimately.

If you're in Brighton, Hampton or Sandringham, looking out over the bay and imagining something better. In Kew, Hawthorn, Camberwell or Canterbury, where character homes sit alongside some of Melbourne's finest streets. In Malvern or Balwyn, where school catchments and lifestyle come together. Or further east in Ivanhoe, Doncaster, Templestowe or Warrandyte, where space meets proximity.

We also work across Richmond, Fitzroy, Brunswick and Northcote, suburbs where design-forward homeowners are reimagining what their homes can be.

We don't try to be everywhere. We choose to be exceptional where we are.

HEAR FROm OUR CLIENT

We couldn't be happier with our new bathroom - we absolutely love it! From start to finish, the whole experience with Zac and Alejandra was fantastic.A special mention to Alejandra whose expert design advice was invaluable. She put together a mood board using multiple product samples which really helped us visualise the final design and made it so much easier to narrow down our decisions on the colour scheme and overall direction. It took a lot of the guesswork out of the process and gave us so much confidence in our choices! And a big shoutout to Zac whose professionalism and coordination of trades was impressive. Everything ran smoothly and to schedule which made the whole renovation experience so much less stressful than we anticipated. It was clear he had everything well organised and under control throughout the entire project.Their combined hard work and attention to detail made the entire process seamless and we really appreciated the care they both put into the project from end to end. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a stress-free renovation with a brilliant result! Thanks so much guys - wishing you every success with the business!
